It has been an eventful Friday in Istanbul at this year’s VICTOR European Para Badminton Championships. For the first time since 2018, the event has returned—this time with nearly 200 athletes from across the continent.
Today featured the quarterfinals as well as the last group-stage matches. The day delivered its fair share of surprises and thrilling encounters. What truly stands out at an event like this, however, is the athletes’ joy in playing badminton. Every player competes to give their very best and fights hard to leave the court victorious. Yet, alongside the fierce will to win, the spirit of sportsmanship shines just as brightly. Smiles and conversations are shared after matches, no matter the result.

At the European Chamionships 2025 in Horsens this past April, medals were shared among seven nations. This time, the podium will feature athletes from 21 different countries. Although para badminton offers a wider range of categories compared to traditional championships, it is still remarkable to witness so many nations achieving success.
Azerbaijan enjoyed a historic day, securing their very first medals at any European Championships. Zahra Salmanli claimed a medal in the SH6 mixed doubles alongside partner Krysten Coombs from England. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Aliyev reached the semifinals in the SU5 category, paired with Bartłomiej Mroz from Poland.
Tomorrow brings the semifinals, with the day’s schedule updated continuously here. Fans can follow livescore updates directly on this site, or tune in to the livestream from the courts on YouTube.
