It was a repeat of the European Championships semifinal as Lea Palermo and Julien Maio once again faced Amalie Magelund and Jesper Toft. The two pairs previously met at this year’s European Championships, where the Danish duo claimed a convincing victory, 21–14 21–13, and went on to win the title.

Today, the pairs met again in the second round of the Super 1000 Malaysia Open, and this time the match proved to be a much closer contest. After three hard-fought games, it was once again Magelund and Toft who emerged victorious, winning 17–21 21–14 21–13.

In the quarterfinals, the Danish pair will face a tough challenge against the 3rd-seeded Thai duo, Dechapol/Supissara.

Another European mixed doubles pair in action today was Marvin Seidel and Thuc Nguyen, who were playing their first-ever second-round match at a Super 1000 tournament. The German pair put in a strong performance against the 6th-seeded Chinese duo Chen/Guo, but ultimately had to concede defeat, losing 13–21 21–16 21–10.
