The Al Ain Masters 2025 is in full swing, and today at 12pm CEST, the quarterfinals will kick off. A total of 11 matches will feature European players who are looking to secure spots on the podium at this Super 100 event.
Sweden’s Tilda Sjöö will step on court twice today. She’ll first play in mixed doubles with Filip Karlborg – the pair already has three podium finishes this year and will be aiming for a fourth after a great match yesterday where they defeated the top seeds. Sjöö will play later in women’s doubles with Malena Norrman. The Swedish duo will face a tough challenge, meeting fifth seeds Yan Fei Chen/Liang Ching Sun from Chinese Taipei. However, they’ve also shown strong performances, having won against second seeds Polina Buhrova/Yevheniia Kantemyr in the round of 16.
Players from Türkiye are also gathering good results in Al Ain, with players competing in three quarterfinals. Neslihan Arın will face India’s Anupama Upadhyaya in what could be a tight match, with just 11 spots separating them in the world rankings. In women’s doubles, fourth seeds Bengisu Erçetin/Nazlıcan İnci will face an unseeded pair, while Emre Sonmez/Yasemen Bektas have their chances against a lower-ranked duo in mixed doubles.
Germany has two pairs in the quarterfinals: fifth seeds Marvin Seidel/Thuc Phuong Nguyen and eighth seeds Malik Bourakkadi/Kenneth Neumann, both facing Indonesian pairs. Finland’s top players Joakim Oldorff and Kalle Koljonen are also in the mix, aiming for big results before heading home soon to compete in next week’s Arctic Open, a Super 500.
Top seeds Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva will be playing today as well, while Serbia’s Mihajlo Tomic/Andjela Vitman, seeded eighth, will face the tournament’s third seeds in what will be a tough match.
European hopes are very much alive and today’s quarterfinals could see many of our players securing a strong finish at the Al Ain Masters.
