Anders Antonsen will meet Shi Yu Qi once again at the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2026 — a rivalry that has given us great matches in recent editions in Kuala Lumpur.
The two stars meet a round earlier this time, after facing in the final in both 2024 and 2025, with Antonsen capturing his first Super 1000 title in 2024, before Shi got the win last year. Their most recent clash was at the Indonesia Open in June last year, where Antonsen won in three games. Shi, the current world number one, leads the head-to-head 7–4.
Antonsen secured his spot with a solid straight-games win against Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto, 21-9 21-12, in their 15th meeting.
Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt is out of the Super 1000 tournament after facing An Se Young. There’s more Europeans still fighting for a medal in Kuala Lumpur — Jesper Toft/Amalie Magelund are currently on court, while Ben Lane/Sean Vendy and Alex Lanier will play later.
