The World Tour is back in Europe. The CLASH OF CLANS Arctic Open 2025 powered by YONEX begins tomorrow in Vantaa, Finland. As a Super 500 event, there’s a lot at stake.
Tuesday will start with qualification rounds and there will already be some strong clashes on the schedule. Julien Carraggi will face Mads Christophersen in what could be a close match. The main draw begins later tomorrow and continues into Wednesday.
Among the most exciting first-round matchups, home favourite Joakim Oldorff, recently crowned men’s singles champion at the Al Ain Masters, will face Arnaud Merkle, who just won the YONEX Dutch Open. Merkle leads their head-to-head 2-0, their last meeting being the final of the Polish Open earlier this year. With both players in good form and Oldorff playing on home soil, it’s definitely a match to watch.
In women’s singles, we’ll be seeing an all-Danish battle – fifth-seeded Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt will face Julie Dawall Jakobsen. The two know each other’s game well. Kjærsfeldt leads their head-to-head, but they don’t sit that far from each other in the rankings.
Another all-European clash comes in women’s doubles, with Paulina Cybulska/Kornelia Marczak meeting Polina Buhrova/Yevheniia Kantemyr. Sixth seeds Jesper Toft/Amalie Magelund will play their opening match against Filip Karlborg/Tilda Sjoo. The Danes are now in the top 10 in the world rankings, while the Swedes have been gathering good results on the European Circuit. This will be a great experience for them at a Super 500 level.
