Viktor Axelsen has withdrawn from the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2026 (Super 1000) and the DAIHATSU Indonesia Open 2026 (Super 500) the first two tournaments of 2026, as he continues his recovery.

The Danish star has continued struggling with back problems in recent months. He returned from recovery after surgery in September, competing in the VICTOR Denmark Open and YONEX French Open, but Axelsen was later forced to retire from the Kumamoto Masters Japan 2025 and the SATHIO GROUP Australia Open 2025.

Axelsen confirmed to TV 2 Sport that he’s withdrawn due to the same back issues that led to surgery in April. While disappointing, we wish him the best on his recovery and will eagerly await for his return once he’s ready.
