Following the injury to Christine Busch during the 2026 Thomas & Uber Cup in Horsens, Badminton Denmark has announced a new mixed doubles partnership featuring Jesper Toft and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk.

National head coach Thomas Stavngaard described the change as unfortunate but also full of potential.

“It is under sad circumstances that we once again have to create a new mixed doubles partnership, but at the same time we see exciting perspectives in pairing Jesper Toft and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk,” Stavngaard said to Badminton Denmark.

According to the coach, the new duo will play with a different tactical approach compared to Toft’s previous partnership with Amalie Magelund, but the coaching staff believes the pair can achieve strong results together.

The new mixed doubles team is expected to make its debut later this autumn, when a more consistent tournament schedule can be arranged.

The change also means that world No. 29 and Europe’s sixth-highest ranked mixed doubles pair, Rasmus Espersen and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk, will split up. Espersen will continue training at Denmark’s national elite center, and Badminton Denmark expects to announce a new mixed doubles partnership for him within the coming weeks.

In addition, Amalie Cecilie Kudsk will also have a new women’s doubles partner after Natasja Anthonisen ended her international career earlier this year. Kudsk will now team up with Simona Pilgaard in women’s doubles, with their first tournament together set to be the US Open at the end of June.
