Badminton Europe celebrates World Badminton Day
05/07/25 07:30

In 1934, the International Badminton Federation was established by eight founding members. This organisation came to be called the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Today, it has grown to represent every country and continent around the world.

In 2023, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) decided that the 5th of July would be the day that celebrates this founding and everything it represents to the world of badminton. This year marks 91 years since that day in 1934. It's a great time for reflection on everything we enjoy and appreciate about the world of badminton.

Among these are the new generation of players, the high level of competition, the great fanbase badminton enjoys, and the community we find at the venues. We also celebrate the many clubs in every member state where people find belonging, recreation, and meaning, and the many volunteers who dedicate much of their lives to making every badminton event successful.

There is an endless number of things to be thankful for as a badminton fan. As fans of badminton, here at Badminton Europe, we are grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.

Happy World Badminton Day!
