The Irish Open entered its penultimate day, and it delivered plenty of surprises.

Nhat Nguyen, the two-time Irish Open champion who hoped to secure a third consecutive title on home soil, fell to seventh-seeded Daniil Dubovenko from Israel in their first ever meeting.

The upsets didn’t stop there. Top-seeded Abbygael Harris/Lizzie Tolman were defeated by the unseeded young French pair Elsa Jacob/Flavie Vallet. In men’s doubles, the first-seeded European silver medalists Eloi Adam/Adam Rossi were knocked out by sixth seeds Alexander Dunn/Adam Pringle.
