Champions Crowned at Polish Open 2026
23/03/26 10:24

The 2026 Polish Open presented by YONEX concluded yesterday, March 22, in Łódź.
A strong field of both European top players and Asian athletes delivered an excellent tournament.

Many of the European players we saw in action in Poland were playing their final tournament before beginning preparations for the 2026 European Championships, which start exactly two weeks from today.

In men’s singles, world number 33 Jason Teh from Singapore claimed the title. Bronze medalist from the 2025 European Championships, Aria Dinata from Croatia, also secured a bronze medal in Poland, along with France’s Sacha Leveque. Leveque had originally been scheduled to play in the qualification rounds but was moved into the main draw due to withdrawals. He delivered an impressive performance, defeating fourth seed Dmitriy Panarin from Kazakhstan on his way to the semifinals, where Jason Teh proved too strong, winning 21–16, 24–22.

In women’s singles, world number 28 and top seed Unnati Hooda from India went all the way. In the final, she defeated Polina Buhrova from Ukraine 10–21, 21–15, 21–8. A strong podium finish for the young Buhrova. Türkiyes’s Özge Bayrak claimed a bronze medal.

In men’s doubles, it was complete European dominance, as Malik Bourakkadi and Kenneth Neumann secured victory over Robin Harper and Harry Wakefield 21–18, 21–8 in the final.
The two bronze medals also went to England and Germany, through Oliver Butler/Samuel Jones and Jonathan Dresp/Simon Krax.

In women’s doubles, there was also a European victory, as Abbygael Harris and Lizzie Tolman from England took the title. In the final, they defeated Japan’s Kiyama/Yonemoto 23–21, 21–16.
The two sets of bronze medals also went to European pairs: Lisa Curtin/Sian Kelly from England and Laura Hvid/Anna Klausholm from Denmark.

In mixed doubles, Japan took gold, as Midorikawa/Matsuyama defeated Denmark’s Jeppe Søby and Sofie Røjkjær in the final.
The bronze medals went to Samuel Jones/Lizzie Tolman from England and Buğra Aktaş/Sinem Yıldız from Türkiye.

As mentioned, this was the last tournament where we will see the majority of the above-mentioned players before the 2026 European Championships begin in two weeks in Huelva, Spain.

Before that, however, there is one more tournament on the European Circuit Tour: the 1st Hungarian Future Series 2026, taking place from April 1 to April 4 in Pécs, Hungary.
