Denmark’s Line Christophersen secured a milestone victory at the YONEX Swiss Open 2026, defeating Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong for the first time to book her place in the quarterfinal.
Christophersen showed resilience in a tense encounter where momentum swung several times, but the Dane managed to hold her nerve to close out the match.
“I’m super happy and I think I had a good chance the whole match,” she said afterwards. “She came back, so I’m just happy that I ended with a win.”
The match featured several nervy moments late on, but Christophersen stayed focused despite the pressure.
“I was quite nervous and she also played some good rallies in the end,” she admitted. “I just think I have to keep going and fight all my best.”
The Dane will now face another Thai opponent in the quarterfinal, taking on Supanida Katethong as she continues her run in Basel.
