The 61st Portugal International Championships 2026 finished last Sunday in Caldas da Rainha, at the Portuguese High Performance Centre – the country’s badminton hotspot.

The men’s singles final was an all-Danish clash between Jeppe Bruun and sixth seed Jakob Houe. Bruun came back after losing the opening game to take the match into a decider and then secured the win. This is his best result of the year on the circuit for the Dane and his first title on the circuit - Bruun has stood on the podium before, having secured some runner-up finishes.

Denmark also came close to another title in women’s singles. Frederikke Østergaard faced top seed Juliana Viana Vieira in the final of the International Challenge tournament. The Dane pushed the match to three games but was unable to secure the win against the Brazilian player, still securing a well-deserved runner-up finish – her second of the year after also finishing second at the Estonian International in January.

Denmark did claim another title in men’s doubles, where Robert Nebel/Jeppe Søby defeated Natan Begga/Grégoire Deschamp. French pairs had strong results, earning several podium finishes. Natan Begga finished runner-up in men’s doubles and also in mixed doubles with Elsa Jacob. In women’s doubles, Agathe Cuevas/Kathell Desmots-Chacun secured second place.
