Denmark’s Men Are Through to the Final
14/02/26 16:22

With a 3–1 victory over England in the semifinal, Denmark have booked their place in yet another final. Earlier in the day, the Danish women secured their spot in the final, and this afternoon the men followed suit.

In the opening match, Anders Antonsen gave Denmark a 1–0 lead after a three-game victory over Harry Huang.

England levelled the tie in the second match, as Ben Lane and Sean Vendy defeated Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 21–19, 21–17. You can read more about the English reaction to that match here.

Next up was the second men’s singles, with Rasmus Gemke facing Cholan Kayan. Gemke won the first game convincingly 21–10, and although the second game was a closer contest, he was able to secure the win and put Denmark back in front, 2–1.

Denmark had the opportunity to seal the tie in the fourth match, the second men’s doubles, where Daniel Lundgaard/Mads Vestergaard faced Callum Hemming/Zach Russ. The Danes controlled the tempo throughout, and the victory was never truly in doubt. Lundgaard and Vestergaard were able to celebrate as they sent Denmark into yet another final.

Tomorrow’s opponents are not yet found, but France are the favourites against the surprise Sweden. Should it end up being a Denmark vs France final, it is something Lundgaard and Vestergaard are very much looking forward to.

Lundgaard: "It is going to be a crazy match, there is no doubt that they have 3 really really good singles, but I think we will manage to win tomorrow."

Whether it will be France or Sweden on the other side of the net tomorrow remains to be seen. That match is being played right now on badmintoneurope.tv, with the score currently 0–0 at the time of writing.
