The countdown is on: Teams, seedings, and details confirmed for EMWTC

The countdown to the 2026 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships is officially on! With the entry deadline now closed, we now know which teams will compete in the qualification stage that will be taking place across different locations in Europe later this year.

This will be the tenth edition of the event and while a few teams have already booked their spots for the final stage that will be taking place in Türkiye next year, many will have to battle it out in qualification. Here’s a full breakdown.

Men’s Team Championships
A total of 29 teams have entered the 2026 European Men’s Team Championships. Three countries are already directly qualified to the final stage: Türkiye as hosts, Denmark as defending champions, and France as top seed.

That leaves 26 countries to be drawn for qualification, divided across five groups – two groups of four teams, and three groups of six teams (each with two subgroups of three).

The seeded teams in each group, according to the team ranking based on the BWF rankings of 8 July 2025, are:

  • Group 1: England (group of four)
  • Group 2: Germany (group of four)
  • Group 3: Finland (group of six)
  • Group 4: Ireland (group of six)
  • Group 5: Azerbaijan (group of six)

Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine.

Women’s Team Championships
For the European Women’s Team Championships, 26 teams have entered. Two countries are directly qualified: Türkiye as hosts and Denmark as defending champions.

The remaining 24 teams will be drawn into six groups of four teams.

The seeded teams in each group, also determined by the team ranking from 8 July 2025, are:

  • Group 1: Bulgaria
  • Group 2: Ukraine
  • Group 3: France
  • Group 4: Germany
  • Group 5: Spain
  • Group 6: England

When is the draw?
The draw for the qualification stage will be held live on Wednesday, 16 July 2025 at 11am CEST.
