Estonia delivered a standout weekend at the VICTOR Latvia International 2025 in Riga, claiming a total of five medals — two gold, one silver, and two bronze.

Estonias impressive display
Mixed doubles pair Mikk Õunmaa/Ramona Üprus topped the podium after a strong 21-18 21-14 victory in the final. Meanwhile, Catlyn Kruus/Ramona Üprus also secured gold in the women’s doubles with a thrilling 21-14 26-24 win.

In men’s doubles, Kristjan Kaljurand/Raul Käsner earned the silver medal, falling 10-21 12-21 in the final. Estonia also took home two bronze medals: Raul Käsner/Helina Rüütel in women’s doubles, Kati-Kreet Käsner/Raul Käsner in mixed doubles both reaching the semifinals. This was a commanding combined performance that highlights the country’s growing presence on the European badminton stage, especially in the Baltic region.

Other great results:
Elsewhere, Finland’s Nella Nyqvist delivered an impressive run to the women’s singles final but had to settle for silver after a hard-fought match. Spain also made the podium, with Jacobo Fernández/Alberto Piris Perals winning the men’s doubles title.

Next week:
Attention now turns to next week’s Czech International Future Series 2025 in České Budějovice, Czechia. The tournament will be one of the first in the world to officially test the BWF’s experimental 15x3 scoring system — a development that has sparked interest across the badminton community. And it can all be streamed here on badmintoneurope.tv
