18/05/26 08:49

European pairs claimed two of the five titles at the I FEEL SLOVENIA Li-Ning Open 2026 in Maribor, as the international field delivered a packed week of action on the Badminton Europe Elite Circuit.

In men’s doubles, Denmark's Robert Nebel/Jeppe Søby captured the title after a strong run through the tournament. The victory marks their second Badminton Europe Circuit triumph together after also winning the Portugal International earlier this year in March.

The women’s doubles title went to Dutch pair Debora Jille and Meerte Loos, who made an impressive start as a newly formed partnership. For Jille, it was also a particularly special victory, marking her first international title since winning the Scottish Open back in 2014 alongside Denmark’s Sara Thygesen.

Jille also enjoyed success in mixed doubles, reaching the semifinals together with Brian Wassink. Reflecting on the week on social media, she wrote:

“Satisfied with our performance the past few days, and happy to also get a 3rd place in mixed.”

Elsewhere, India’s Sathish Kumar Karunakaran enjoyed a standout tournament by claiming two titles. He secured the men’s singles crown before teaming up with Zenith Abbigail to win the mixed doubles competition.

In women’s singles, India’s Ilishaa Pal lifted the title after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Liao Jui-Chi in the final.

The Badminton Europe Elite Circuit now moves directly to the Austrian Open 2026 in Graz, where another busy week of international badminton awaits.

Matches from the tournament will be streamed on badmintoneurope.tv, while fans can also follow the action and stay updated through the official Badminton Europe App.
