There was plenty to celebrate for European players on day three of the CLASH OF CLANS Arctic Open 2025 powered by YONEX, with many players and pairs moving into the quarterfinals.
Mia Blichfeldt, seeded eighth, is through to the quarterfinals, and so is fellow Dane Line Kjærsfeldt, fifth seed. In men’s singles, Arnaud Merkle gave one of the standout performances of the day with a solid 21-12 21-10 win over sixth seed Kenta Nishimoto.
Danes Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Amalie Schulz both overcame three-game thrillers while France’s Margot Lambert/Camille Pognante continue building on their good results. The French pair defeated eighth seeds Hsu Yin-Hui/Lin Jhih Yun in straight games. It’s another great step forward for the pair who only started playing together a year ago and are now starting to grow on the World Tour.
One of the most exciting matches of the day came from the all-European match between Rasmus Gemke and third seed Christo Popov. Popov took the first game 21-5 but Gemke bounced back 21-10 in the second, before closing the match with a tight win in the decider, 21-19.
Danes William Kryger Boe/Christian Faust Kjær faced Ben Lane/Sean Vendy, with the English pair advancing to the quarterfinals once again in Vantaa – they reached the same stage last year too – and will meet China’s Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi tomorrow. It will be a tough test but the English duo lead the head-to-head 2-1, although the Chinese pair won their most recent match.
