Quarterfinal revenge clash

In mixed doubles, both seeded European pairs, Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue and Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje, overcame tough challenges from their Japanese and Korean opponents to set up yet another all-European clash.

This will be the third consecutive tournament where the two pairs meet, with the Danes having won both of their recent encounters in straight games.

“We really want to play them again because we lost last week,” said Thom Gicquel before their meeting at the HYLO final, his expression showing clear determination for revenge.

The Danes have been on an incredible run, defeating some of the world’s top pairs and capping it off with their victory at the HYLO Open. Tomorrow’s match promises to be another intense chapter in their growing rivalry.

Gemke beats Prannoy

Meanwhile, Rasmus Gemke earned an impressive win over India’s H.S. Prannoy, narrowing their head-to-head record to 3-4, still in favor of the Indian. Tomorrow, Gemke will face Wang Tzu Wei, a player he hasn’t met since 2019, when the Dane won in three games.
