Christian Faust Kjær/William Kryger Boe are continuing their dream run at the Super 500 tournament, defeating the Lee twins from Chinese Taipei to book their spot in the semifinals.
It was their second clash against seeded opponents this week, having already pulled off a career highlight by knocking out third seeds Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun of Malaysia earlier in the tournament. Against the eight seeded pair in the quarterfinals, the Danes stood out as the only unseeded duo to have broken through.
In the opening game, the young pair came out lightning quick, racing to a 7-1 lead with an aggressive attacking strategy. Though the Lee twins managed to close the gap slightly, the Danes held firm and never surrendered their lead, taking the first game with confidence.
The second game began more evenly, with both pairs trading points in a neck-and-neck contest. At one stage, the Taiwanese pair edged ahead, but Kjær and Boe once again shifted gears. Finding another level, they pulled away after the interval and sealed the match in straight games, wrapping it up in just 37 minutes.
Alfian/Ardianto up next
In the semifinal, the Danes face their biggest challenge yet: top seeds and world number four, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. The experienced Indonesian duo will no doubt be closely studying Kjær and Boe’s recent performances to build a strategy against the Danes, who now carry all the momentum into the next round.
