The second round of the women’s team event has just concluded, and the results have set the stage for some very exciting matchups on the third and final day of the group stage.
Four team ties were played — and all four ended with a 4–1 scoreline.
Results:
Bulgaria 1 – Türkiye 4
Denmark 4 – Germany 1
Czechia 1 – France 4
Estonia 1 – Ukraine 4
Group 1
Denmark have secured their place in the semifinals after a 4–1 victory over Germany. Although both Germany and Ukraine have one win each, they face each other tomorrow, meaning only one of them can reach two wins like Denmark. Since Denmark have already defeated both teams, they are guaranteed to finish top of the group.
This sets up a decisive clash tomorrow between Germany and Ukraine for the second semifinal spot.
Group 2
The home favourites from Türkiye defeated second-seeded Bulgaria 4–1 in a tie where Bulgaria were without their top women’s singles player, Kaloyana Nalbantova. Türkiye now lead the group with two wins.
In the other group match, France beat Czechia 4–1, which means Czechia can no longer reach the semifinals.
However, the other three teams still can. Tomorrow could see a three-way tie with two wins each. If that happens, all three nations will have beaten one another, and the semifinal spots would then be decided by the number of individual matches won.
