Milan Zeisig/Laira Röhl defeat Switzerland to secure the title
Germany’s Milan Zeisig/Laira Röhl captured the Mixed Doubles gold medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2025, defeating Switzerland’s Santiago Araujo/Ainara Putri in the final.
“I’m feeling very amazed by the whole event. The whole week was amazing and a conclusion like this is awesome,” Zeisig said. Röhl added, “I still can’t really believe it. It’s crazy. It’s really exciting.”
The pair, who have been playing together for over seven years, entered the tournament with a realistic mindset:
“For me, it was the goal to get a medal first because it was harder to know the level,” said Zeisig. “Gold seemed possible, but now that it’s happened, I’m even more excited.”
Their focus now turns to the 2025 European U17 Championships in Lanzarote, Spain, this November. Röhl said, “The next goal for this year is the European Championships U17. Until then, we’ll play a few international and national tournaments for preparation.”
