It’s Game Time in Italy — Big Names Headline the Yonex Italian Open 2025
25/06/25 08:26

The action is officially underway at this year’s Yonex Italian Open 2025, an International Series tournament taking place in beautiful Bolzano. Qualification rounds have just kicked off, and fans can catch every shuttle drop live right here or on badmintoneurope.tv.

Even in the qualifiers, several promising European players are already hitting the courts with hopes of securing a place in the main draw. One to watch is England’s Nadeem Dalvi, who earlier this year was honoured with the BEC Shot of the Year award at our ceremony in Belgrade. Also among today’s contenders are young talents like William Bøgebjerg from Denmark and Christopher Vittoriani, playing on home soil for Italy.

But the biggest names at the Italian Open this year are undoubtedly the Stoeva sisters, Gabriela and Stefani. The four-time European Champions and European Games gold medallists are top seeds in women’s doubles, and looks like the pair to beat. Gabriela Stoeva is also competing in mixed doubles alongside Evgeni Panev, though it’s a packed category with many exciting pairs.

One duo to keep an eye on in the mixed doubles is the young French combination Thibault Gardon/Kathell Desmots-Chaucun, who were crowned European Junior Champions in December. Gardon also claimed the men’s doubles title at the same event with Tom Lalot Trescarte, but in Italy, he’ll be teaming up with Ewan Goulin.

With so many emerging and established European players in action, the Italian Open promises a thrilling week of badminton. Who will rise through the ranks and claim a place on the podium?
