The wait is over! The TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2025 kick off today at 9am (CEST), with first-round matches taking place both today and tomorrow. Day one will be a busy one with many Europeans fighting to secure their first win in Paris.
European women’s singles and doubles players are among the first to step on court this morning. The first one will be Stefani Stoeva in women’s singles, followed by Switzerland’s Cloé Brand/Julie Franconville in doubles. Also playing their opening matches this morning are Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour, Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt, Türkiye’s Özge Bayrak, and France’s Anna Tatranova, who has a big challenge ahead facing Chen Yu Fei, seeded four.
It’s also a busy day for Europe’s top contenders, with many key names starting their World Championships journey. France’s Christo Popov is playing against Macau China’s Pui Pang Fong, ranked 126, while Alex Lanier takes on Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen.
We’ll also see many all-European clashes, including Switzerland’s Milena Schnider against Dane Julie Dawall Jakobsen, and Bulgaria’s Ivan Rusev/Iliyan Stoynov facing Danish pair Rasmus Kjær/Frederik Søgaard.
