Miha Ivančič/Petra Polanc, top seeds in mixed doubles and home favourites, went all the way once again at the I FEEL SLOVENIA LI-NING Future Series 2025, winning the title for the second year in a row.
It’s the fourth time the Slovenian pair has stood on the podium at this tournament, and once again, they claimed the top spot at the Future Series tournament in Laško, which took place from Tuesday 2nd to Friday 5th September.
The final was a thrilling match between Ivančič/Polanc and Switzerland’s Yann Orteu/Caroline Racloz – a rematch of last year’s semifinal, when the Slovenians won in straight games. This time, the Swiss pair fought back. Ivančič/Polanc took the first game 21-13, but Orteu/Racloz came back to win the second, 21-16. It all came down to the decider, and the home favourites delivered, taking the third game 21-13 to secure the title.
It was a strong event from European players across the board, with all podium finishes except one going to European players.
In men’s singles, Cholan Kayan reached the final with a solid run of straight-game wins but had to go home with the silver after a close match against Japan’s Minoru Koga, losing 17-21 22-24. Still, this is Kayan’s second podium finish of the year. Israel’s Heli Neiman took the women’s singles title, her first of the year and second at a senior level – and actually second in Slovenia –, following a successful run earlier this summer at the Czech International, where she finished in third/fourth place.
In men’s doubles, Germany’s Marvin Datko/Aaron Sonnenschein continue their breakthrough. After some quarterfinal finishes earlier this year and a runner-up result at the Nouvelle-Aquitaine tournament this summer, they have now claimed the title in Slovenia. The pair will be competing again this week at the Belgian International. The women’s doubles title went to Czechia’s Kateřina Osladilová/Tallulah Sharleen Van Coppenolle, who won in a three-game final against top seeds Lucie Amiguet/Caroline Racloz, Switzerland.
