Silver for 15-year-old Mady Sow
The RSL Lithuania International 2025 was the first senior tournament for many of the new pairs from France’s next generation of badminton talent. The tournament lasted for four days, with several players battling through qualification rounds. Among them was 15-year-old U15 European U15 champion Mady Sow, who competed in both singles and doubles.
In singles, Sow reached the final, pushing 22-year-old Italian player Christopher Vittoriani to the limit in the second game before falling 9-21 20-22. It was an impressive feat for the young Frenchman, who later expressed on social media that he was satisfied with the result and did not expect to perform so well.
Thibault Gardon/Agathe Cuevas reach another final
Double gold winner at the 2024 European Junior Championships Thibault Gardon and his new partner Agathe Cuevas also played their first senior tournament together, after winning the Danish Junior Cup last month. Seeded fifth in Lithuania, the pair stormed through to the final without dropping a game.
However, in the final they met Sweden’s Max Svensson/Sofia Strömvall, who ended the French duo’s run with a 21-8 24-22 victory.
A strong start for the French
Despite settling for two silver medals, these are excellent results for the newly-formed French pairs, especially for 15-year-old Mady Sow, who achieved a major milestone in his very first senior event.
