The YONEX Swiss Open 2026 is approaching its conclusion, with just one day remaining in Basel.

Going into the semifinals, three European doubles pairs were hoping to secure a place in Sunday’s finals. In the end, only one managed to make it through.

Both Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva and Christian Faust Kjaer/Rasmus Kjaer had their chances. Each pair held match point opportunities in their respective semifinals but were unable to convert when it mattered most, bringing a bittersweet end to an otherwise impressive week.

Daniel Lundgaard/Mads Vestergaard, however, successfully booked their place in the final, marking the first BWF World Tour final of their careers.

“It’s a big achievement for us. We have always wanted to reach a Super 300 final, so it’s very good,” Vestergaard said with a smile.

The Danish pair have steadily improved throughout the week, something Lundgaard also highlighted after the match.

“Through the whole week we have been progressing. Today was the best match so far. I just hope we can continue the level tomorrow,” he said.

In Sunday’s final, the Danes will face Chinese Taipei’s Lee brothers, who earlier defeated Christian Faust Kjaer/Rasmus Kjaer in a dramatic semifinal.

Seeded just one place above Lundgaard/Vestergaard, the pair from Chinese Taipei have proven they cannot be underestimated, setting up what promises to be a thrilling final.

The Swiss Open starts tomorrow at 11 am CET. The Danes match are the second match of the day.
