Mia Blichfeldt’s run at the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2026 came to an end in the second round. The Dane was clearly affected by injury in her match against Ratchanok Intanon.
Blichfeldt was unable to find her rhythm and lost in straight games, 8-21 7-21. Throughout the match, she struggled with movement.
Blichfeldt confirmed later to TV 2 Sport that she is dealing with a minor injury to her right calf, which is also affecting her knee. She explained that the problem began after a cramp late in her opening-round win on Tuesday. She has been experiencing pain since but hopes for a quick recovery.
Blichfeldt still finished the match before being out of the tournament. The Dane is in the draw in next week’s YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2026, where she will face Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Pin-Chian in the opening round. We hope to see her back on court feeling fully recovered in India.
