In a commanding display at the Australian Open, Korea’s superstar An Seyoung clinched her tenth World Tour title of 2025, which breaks her own record for most women’s singles titles in a single year!

An delivered a smooth straight game run in Sydney, defeating Indonesia
s Putri Kusuma Wardani in the final, 21-16, 21-14, reinforcing her status as number one.

In 2025, she has played in 14 World Tour tournaments and reached 11 finals. The only time she has failed to reach at least the semifinals was at the Singapore Open in May, when she lost to China’s former Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei in the quarterfinals.

Retired former men’s singles world number one and two-time world champion, Kento Momota, holds the single-season title record, with 11 in 2019.

World champions back on top

Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie/ Toh Ee Wei claimed the mixed doubles title, finally converting their momentum from a world championship gold in Paris into success in Sydney.

They defeated the rising Indonesian pair of Jafar Hidayatullah/ Felisha Pasaribu, 21-16, 21-11

Sen gets his title

India’s Lakshya Sen put on a dominant display in the final, dispatching Yushi Tanaka in just 38 minutes and claiming his first title of the year, 21-15, 21-11.

This is his first Super 500 title since the 2023 Canada Open, and perhaps indicates a return of form.

New stars emerge?

The young pair of Raymond Indra/ Nikolaus Joaquin, 20 and 21 years old, have showed a lot of promise, but their performance stepping up this week was nothing short of remarkable. Capped off by defeating their in-form compatriots Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the final, 22-20, 10-21, 21-18.

This has sent shockwaves across the world. Indonesian fans can get excited by their men’s doubles group. It looks like a bright future ahead!

Marathon 109 minutes

In another all-Indonesian doubles final, Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum deeated Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/ Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari, 21-18, 19-21, 23-21.

In what might be described as the match of the day, Rose and Setianingrum edged out Kusuma/ Puspita Sari in a marathon slog, saving a match point in the final game to clinch victory.
