Europeans battle for placements at the World Juniors.
With one day left to go at the YONEX SUNRISE BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships 2025, the European teams are battling for their final placements in the team event.
Unfortunately, no European nation reached the top eight, meaning they will be placed in the lower classification groups.
16–9 placement group
In the 9th–16th placement group, Türkiye made it the furthest and will face Sri Lanka tomorrow in the battle for the 11th place – a great achievement for the Turkish team, who performed the best among all European junior squads.
In the same group, France will meet Denmark in the match for the 13th place. Poland was also in this group but failed to convert their chances, finishing last after losses to Sri Lanka and Canada.
17–24 placement group
This group included Romania, England, and Ireland. Unfortunately, all three teams lost their opening matches.
In the subsequent placement rounds, Ireland defeated Romania, while England overcame Singapore, securing the 21st and 22nd positions respectively, with Romania finishing 23rd/24th.
25–32 placement group
In this bracket, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Hungary were fighting for stronger end positions – and all four European teams won their opening matches.
This set up the semifinals between Portugal against Slovakia, and Slovenia against Hungary.
Hungary and Slovakia advanced to the final, where Hungary triumphed to claim the 25th place. Slovakia finished 26th, while Portugal defeated Slovenia in their final match to take the 27th and 28th places respectively.
33–36 placement group
Among the bottom four teams, it was the Netherlands who came out on top, followed by Norway, with Bhutan and Uganda finishing in the last positions.
