Day five of the 2026 European Championships is kicking off in just a few hours and will have many decisive moments, including the remaining quarterfinals that will decide the final medalists.
Men’s singles, women’s singles and men’s doubles will all have their quarterfinals today, meaning a spot in the semifinals – and a guaranteed podium finish – is on the line.
In women’s doubles and mixed doubles, the semifinals will already be played ahead of tomorrow’s finals. Medals in both of these events were already secured yesterday, but today will decide who plays for gold.
Among the highlighted matches, there will be an all-French clash between third seed Alex Lanier and seventh seed Arnaud Merkle, while second seed Christo Popov will faces fifth seed Rasmus Gemke. In women’s singles, fifth seed Kirsty Gilmour meets Line Christophersen in one of the most exciting clashes of the day.
The women’s doubles semifinals feature top seeds Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva, no strangers to the European Championships podium, against third seeds Polina Buhrova/Yevheniia Kantemyr.
In mixed doubles, fifth seeds Marvin Seidel/Thuc Phuong Nguyen, who yesterday secured their first European Championships medal as a pair, will face a tough challenge in second seeds Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje.
