Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje came agonisingly close to claiming the biggest title of their comeback, but had to settle for runner-up honors after a dramatic final at the YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2026.

The Danish mixed doubles pair produced a high-quality performance and even held four match points in the deciding moments, but the finest margins ultimately went against them. After winning the opening game 21–19, the Danes narrowly missed out on closing the match in the second, which slipped away 23–25, after 4 Championship points missed. The momentum then shifted slightly in favor of the Thai pair, Supissara Paewsampran and Dechapol Puavaranukroh, who edged the decider 21–18.

Despite the disappointment, the final was an outstanding showcase of world-class mixed doubles and marked the biggest final Christiansen and Bøje have reached since their comeback. Their performance in India underlined their return to the top level and showed that they are once again ready to challenge the very best on the biggest stages. And as it looks, this results also gives the danes enough points to again get back in the worlds top 10 in next weeks ranking.
