Last year they had to settle for silver but this year they are back on top of the podium claiming their fourth European Championships title. In what might have been their most dominant run yet they did not drop a single set and were never even close. The most points they gave away in a set was just 16 which happened in the second set of today’s final.

Their opponents Natasja P Anthonisen and Maiken Fruergaard gave it everything they had but the shuttle just kept coming back with quality from the other side.

It was also the final international match for Maiken Fruergaard who ends her career with her best ever result at a European Championships. Maiken Fruergaard also has four bronze medals which she won together with her longtime partner Sara Thygesen.

After the match the sisters were happy when we spoke with them
"Last year when we lost the final, it was a little bit hard for us, because we wanted to win it so much but we were just unlucky, and this year we just said that we will try to enjoy, not to put any targets or to chase any titles, and I think that this was helping us in this week." 

The next big goals for the sisters are the World Championships coming up later this year "We will focus on the next big event for us, which will be the World Championships, and I hope that we can make another good result there."
