The 2026 European Championships begin tomorrow.
The championships return to Huelva, where they were also held in 2018. From April 6–12, a total of 218 athletes from 33 different European nations will compete. In total, 159 matches will be played before the new European champions are crowned on Sunday, April 12.
Matches get underway tomorrow afternoon at 16:00.
New for this year is the introduction of the BEC Court 1 Spotlight. In collaboration with the host nation, selected matches will be played on Court 1 with no other matches taking place in the hall at the same time, placing full spotlight on the players.
On the opening day, two Spotlight matches will be played from 20:00. These will feature local home favourites Paula Lopez/Lucia Rodriguez against Paulina Cybulska/Kornelia Marczak, and Ruben Garcia/Carlos Piris against David Bjarni Bjornsson/Kristofer Darri Finnsson.
All matches can be watched live and free on BadmintonEurope.tv.
From Friday onwards, several nations will have the opportunity to follow the final stages of the championships on national TV or via national streaming services. You can find the full broadcast list here.
