The 61st Portugal International Championships 2026 will take place from 4th to 8th of March in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, as part of the Badminton Europe Elite Circuit.
European presence
One of the stories to follow this week will be Portugal’s own Tiago Berenguer. The young talent will have to fight through the qualification rounds on Wednesday and Thursday for a chance to secure a place in the main draw, which begins on Friday.
The women’s singles draw features second seed Clara Azurmendi of Spain, who will be among the favourites for the title. In men’s singles, Sweden’s fifth seed Gustav Bjorkler adds further quality to the field for Europe. The mixed doubles competitions will also see exciting names in action, including the 2024 European Junior Champions Thibault Gardon/Kathell Desmots-Chacun.
Tournament schedule:
The event will feature men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The main draw consists of 32 players in singles and 24 pairs in doubles.

Wednesday 4th of March – Qualification (men’s and women’s singles, first and second round)
Thursday 5th of March – Qualification (all rounds)
Friday 6th of March – Round of 32
Saturday 7th of March – Round of 16 and quarterfinals
Sunday 8th of March – Semifinals and finals
