The second day of the Denmark Open is coming to an end, with the last European players wrapping up their matches. It was a day filled with both positive surprises and disappointing exits, setting the stage for an exciting second-round day tomorrow with new challenges ahead.

Among the highlights were Ben Lane and Sean Vendy, who produced one of the day’s biggest upsets by defeating third seeds Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin from Malaysia. The English pair, fresh off a title win at last week’s Arctic Open, were delighted with their current level of play. Since Ben Lane’s return from injury, they have felt confident in their game — even if results haven’t always gone their way. Now, momentum seems to be shifting in their favor, as they secured victory with scores of 21–13, 13–21, 21–14.

In men’s singles, several Europeans were in action today. Nhat Nguyen was the only one to fall short, narrowly losing to Lakshya Sen 21–18 in the deciding game. In contrast, Toma Popov, Alex Lanier, Anders Antonsen, and Viktor Axelsen all advanced to the next round. They join Rasmus Gemke and Christo Popov, who won their opening matches yesterday.

Viktor Axelsen progressed with an impressive victory over last week’s champion Chou Tien Chen, showing strong physical form and confident play. Tomorrow, he faces Tanaka from Japan in what promises to be another exciting contest.

In women’s singles, Mia Blichfeldt and Line Christophersen also advanced to the second round. Blichfeldt will face Chen Yu Fei tomorrow — a player who has unfortunately ended her runs at both the Olympic Games and World Championships in recent years.

On the less positive side, sixth seeds Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue were knocked out by Korea’s Lee and Chae, while fourth seeds Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Kim Astrup saw their Denmark Open campaign come to an end after a loss to Chiu and Wang from Chinese Taipei.
