Reyiman Simayi is Badminton Europe’s new Finance & Administration Officer. Originally from Ürümqi in Xinjiang, China, she has called Copenhagen home since 2011.
While looking for a new opportunity, Reyiman came across the open position at Badminton Europe and felt it could be the perfect fit. She found the all-round nature of the role appealing. “This [Finance] is what I am passionate about and most importantly, this is an all-rounder role. It involves a diverse set of tasks and responsibilities.”
Reyiman did her university studies in Denmark, at Copenhagen Business School. “My major in my bachelor’s was Business Administration. It was more general, I would say.” Wanting to focus on a more specialised area, she went on to do a Master’s degree in Accounting, Strategy, and Control.
Since then, she has worked in different roles within the finance sector, including as a Business Controller at Sephora Denmark and, most recently, as a Finance Coordinator at HMShost Denmark. She believes that her broad experience across different industries will bring interesting insight to her work at Badminton Europe. “It gives me a good, different perspective,” she adds.
Moving from China to Denmark came with challenges, but also growth. Reyiman points out some of the cultural differences she came across, particularly in language and food. She enjoys improving her Danish and learning more about the culture. “Overall, I love being here. People are nice and the best part is the emphasis on work-life balance, which is very important to me.”
Outside of work, Reyiman enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. She likes staying active through yoga and gym workouts and she also has a unique hobby, Uyghur dancing. “It is quite different from any other type of dance.”
Three weeks into her new role, Reyiman describes her experience so far as exciting. “I feel very welcomed here. I like the working environment, and I have a chance to get to know great colleagues.”
She’s excited about one project in particular. “We are transitioning into a new financial system. That is what I am most excited about,” Reyiman says, looking forward to gaining new skills and deepening her financial knowledge.
We’re happy to welcome Reyiman to her new role and to the Badminton Europe family!
