When Every Match Counts: Tie-Breakers Could Decide It All
13/02/26 07:19

Today, it will be decided which nations secure at least a bronze medal at the 2026 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships.

The first nations have already booked their places in the semifinals, but most of the remaining spots will be decided today.

Todays matchups can be seen here

Women’s Tournament

Group 1

Denmark have secured their place in the semifinals after two group-stage wins. Denmark defeated both Germany and Ukraine, and although Germany and Ukraine each have one win, they face each other today — meaning only one of them can reach two wins like Denmark. Since Denmark have already beaten both teams, they are guaranteed to finish top of the group.

This sets up a decisive clash today between Germany and Ukraine for the second semifinal spot.

Estonia are out of contention after losing their first two group matches against Germany and Ukraine.

Group 2

The home heroes from Türkiye defeated second-seeded Bulgaria 4–1 yesterday in a tie where Bulgaria chose to rest their two top women’s singles players, Kaloyana Nalbantova and Stefani Stoeva. Türkiye now lead the group with two wins.

France and Bulgaria both have one win after two matches, meaning that together with Türkiye, all three nations still have a chance to advance.

Czechia can no longer reach the semifinals after losing their first two matches.

Today, we could therefore see a three-way tie with two wins each. If that happens, all three nations will have beaten one another, and the semifinal spots would then be decided by the number of individual matches won.

Men’s Tournament

Denmark and France have already secured their places in the semifinals. The remaining two semifinal spots are still to be decided.

Group 1

Denmark have already guaranteed themselves a medal. England, Spain, and Finland are still in contention for the second semifinal spot, so everything is at stake in today’s final round.

England face Finland, who have lost their first two matches. If England win, they secure a place in the semifinals.

Spain take on Denmark and will need a sensational victory to keep their hopes alive. If Denmark defeat Spain and Finland beat England, the semifinal spot will be decided by the nation with the highest number of individual match wins.

Group 2

France have secured a medal, meaning Germany and Sweden will battle for the final semifinal spot. The two nations meet in a direct showdown in the late session.
