After three days of group-stage action, 12 team ties played and 60 individual matches contested, the four nations set to battle it out in tomorrow’s semifinals are now confirmed at the 2026 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships.
Even before today’s matches, Denmark had already secured their place in the semifinals. Türkiye were also close to advancing but needed just one more individual victory in their tie against France to be absolutely certain.
Türkiye delivered in a tightly contested encounter, edging France 3–2. Meanwhile, on the neighbouring court, Bulgaria defeated Czechia 4–1 — a result that sealed Bulgaria’s ticket to the semifinals as well.
That means it’s farewell to both France and Czechia after today’s decisive matches.
In the other crucial clash, Ukraine and Germany faced off in a direct showdown for a semifinal spot. The young Ukrainian side proved the stronger team, claiming an impressive 4–1 victory.
Ukraine has the youngest squads in the competition, with their oldest player being just 22 years old. Not only does the win secure them a place in the semifinals, it also guarantees Ukraine their first-ever medal at a European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships. With such a young and talented team, there is strong hope that the development of badminton in the hard-pressed nation will continue its upward trajectory.
Once the group stage concluded and the four semifinalists were confirmed, it was time for the draw to determine tomorrow’s match-ups. Türkiye and Denmark, having won their respective groups, could not be drawn against each other.
Denmark were drawn against Ukraine, while Türkiye will face Bulgaria.
Two thrilling semifinals now await. In the semifinals, ties are played until one team wins three individual matches — at which point the team contest is decided.
