The European women’s singles campaign at the India Open came to an end in the second round, as both Line Kjærsfeldt and Mia Blichfeldt were eliminated in New Delhi.
Line Kjærsfeldt was involved in a tight three-game battle against Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani. After taking the opening game 21–15, Kjærsfeldt was unable to maintain the momentum and eventually lost 21–15, 9–21, 18–21 in a hard-fought encounter.
Mia Blichfeldt faced a tough challenge against former world champion Ratchanok Intanon. Despite showing flashes of quality, the Dane was unable to really gain momentum against a well playing Thai player’s and went down 16–21, 11–21.
Both players showed fighting spirit, but the second round proved to be the final stop in women’s singles at this year’s India Open.
