The PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2026 had no European players advancing past the semifinals, with finals day filled with Asian powerhouses.

Four of the five finals in Kuala Lumpur had the top seed against the second seed. China featured in four of the five finals, while the men’s singles final was unfortunately cut short when Shi Yu Qi retired due to injury. After a close opening game, the world number one was unable to continue at the start of the second, and so the clash that was expected to be a top final was cut short.
