The Austrian Open 2025 concluded with a thrilling final day in Graz, with European players winning four out of five titles, along with one silver and one bronze medal.
Held at the Raiffeisen Sportpark in Graz, Austria, the International Series tournament finished yesterday with strong results from some European contenders.
In men’s singles, the only all-European final saw top seed Magnus Johannesen face fifth seed Harry Huang. The Danish player delivered a strong performance, winning in straight games, 21-17 21-14.
Another gold went to Denmark in women’s singles. In the final, Amalie Schulz came back from a game down against India’s Aalisha Naik. After losing the opener 11-21, Schulz fought back to take the second and the decider, 21-15, 21-14, winning the title.
There were no podium finishes for Europe in men’s doubles, but it was a great result in women’s doubles. England’s Lisa Curtin/Sian Kelly secured bronze, while the recent partnership of France’s Elsa Jacob/Anne Tran claimed the title. It’s the first podium and the first title for the new French pair, competing in just their third tournament together.
In mixed doubles, Spaniards Rubén García/Lucia Rodríguez finished the weekend on a high note with a title win. It’s their first gold since the Welsh International last November and their second podium finish this year.
